AFE One Health Initiative

AFE One Health Initiative, was launched as the  non-profit section to AFE Projects and AFE LLC. It was created to address topics such as the fall out from conflict, climate change and health inequities that exist in West Africa and across the continent. It was registered  in December 2022 as a registered non-governmental agency (NGO) with a HQ  in Abuja, Nigeria.

AFE stands for Agriculture, Forests and the Environment which are all impacted daily by the change in the weather, lack of rainfall, and the opposite, floods, and other phenomena that are caused by Climate Change.

Conserving forests is crucial for maintaining biodiversity, mitigating climate change, and ensuring the well-being of ecosystems and human communities. Forests provide habitat for numerous plant and animal species, contribute to carbon sequestration, regulate water cycles, and offer various ecosystem services.

“Afe” is also a  Yoruba word that means “We want…” The AFE teams want to ensure the planet they inherited will also be around for their children, grandchildren and generations to come. Areas of expertise are: agriculture and sustainable farming, as well as food security, the environment, health and education.
